BRIDGTON, Maine — Runners were treated to perfect conditions for the 49th annual Bridgton 4 on the Fourth Road Race in Bridgton, Maine, last Friday. The largest Independence Day race in the Pine Tree State saw 1,997 runners complete the course (up from 1,885 last year).

Sam Laverdiere, 17, the Gatorade Runner of the Year in Cross-Country for 2024-25, from Litchfield, Maine and Lake Region High School, won the race by an amazing 37 seconds in 20:10.
