The tent-shaped boulder is massive with its sharp top and scattered coat of dark leathery lettuce-like lichen. No doubt multitasking mountain bikers adept at bouldering have tried to scale a face of the glacial erratic by a bend in the trail that is part of the Moat network. At one end, the great rock provides shelter with a giant outcrop making it like like a lean-to.

It's easy to see how the two-mile long Tent Boulder Trail got its name.
