Glorious Mountain Days

It was a pleasure to read the new book “Glorious Mountain Days: The 1902 Hike that Helped Save the White Mountains,” by Allison Bell and Maida Goodwin. These days it often takes an exciting hook for me to get into a book, which is why I have enjoyed the latest flurry of books about accidents and rescues in the northeast mountains.

So, how did I get engrossed in the story of a guided 1902 hike across the northern Presidentials with three women and a man, all educated and comfortable Bostonians?
