I wrote this column in the late fall of 2023. It is not often that I print a column that took place in another season. But I thought it might be the most effective way to convince people to head now over to Mount Cardigan, a beautiful peak in Orange and Alexandria. I haven’t been back since, and have not seen the restored fire tower. Also, I've added some geology that wasn’t in the original column.

This Wednesday was cold and breezy. I looked out the window and noticed some cumulus that looked like winter clouds — if you know what I mean — reminding me of special brisk days hiking in the mountains.
