2018 AMC Maine Mountain Guide

The 11th edition of the "AMC Maine Mountain Guide" is newly written and expanded. (COURTESY PHOTO)

When a new edition of an AMC trail guidebook comes out, I like to review it. There are invariably new trails to mention, and stories by both the author/editor and map cartographer that add interest and personal dimensions to the development of each new edition.

It has been fun to talk to Steve Smith when a new edition of the “AMC White Mountain Guide” or the “AMC Southern New Hampshire Guide” have come out. I talked to Carey Kish in 2012 when the last “AMC Maine Mountain Guide” came out.
