At the August Fish and Game commissioners meeting held at the Great Bay Discovery Center on Aug 20, Fisheries Chief Dianne Timmins presented her vision of the future of trout fishing regulations for New Hampshire. It’s a fact that catch-and-release angling and fishing with barbless hooks is the best way to conserve a fishery while meeting angler demand.
The presentation removed all catch-and-release fisheries. The presentation effectively removed fly-fishing only areas from New Hampshire. These waters were now going to be artificial-lure-only waters because, in doing so, all anglers would have equal opportunity to catch fish stocked by Fish and Game.
