North Country Angling - Brook trout

Brook trout can still be caught in select Mount Washington Valley ponds. (STEVE ANGERS PHOTO)

As the Jeep climbed through the notch, small flakes of crystalline water vapor appeared in the headlights. It had been many Novembers since Troutman had seen snow this early. Heading north to camp to meet the Old Timer, Troutman’s pace wanted to quicken, but the roads would only become slicker, so Troutman maintained a cautious speed.

“I hope the Old Timer made it OK,” thought Troutman. “And if he did, he has the woodstove stoked up.”
