Early on in the educational process of a young fly angler, the East Branch of the Saco River was on the “to do” list. The East Branch was known for its wild brook trout and its bounty of hatches.

Having fished the lower reaches of the East Branch with worms and spin gear, fishing for the brook trout with flies would just up the game.
