North Country Angling - Zoe Groves

One of the things that makes owning the North Country Angler so enjoyable is working with several young anglers. As every business owner knows, it is the next generation that will make or break an industry. The heart palpitates every time a youngster and their adult fishing buddy or parent who never fished walk through our door. It’s an opportunity to get another person hooked on the great sport of fishing.

The first year of running the shop meant meeting many of the area fishing guides. The quirkiest of those guides was Clay Groves of Fish Nerds Guide Service. Clay thinks outside the box and while he dabbled in fly fishing, he was a spin fishing guide all the way. He had a pontoon boat, and the big lakes were his domain. He knew his stuff and after taking a trip with him trolling for lake trout on Silver Lake, we added him to the list of guides we recommend.
