With the help of a gravel diet, Freedom photographer Joe Viger has lost more than 50 pounds while exploring new worlds close to home.
Bicycling has long been part of the Berlin native’s life. He started out in his 20s on a hardtail mountain bike and eventually upgraded to front suspension for a cushier trail ride. But like many people, life took a few turns — business travel, raising a family, too many bike crashes — and he put biking on hold.
