A bill in the N.H. Legislature would give voters a chance to change management control of their local public libraries from library trustees to selectmen. Conservative state representatives say as operations become more complex, the bill is about better governance and giving towns flexibility to decide on staffing and budgets. Liberal state representatives are pushing back and saying the bill would mean elected officials would be more vulnerable to political pressure, including what books libraries offer.

This week’s Tele-Talk question is: Would you vote for a bill that would give selectmen more control over public libraries?
