According to a story that ran in the Sun this week, Jason Nason, 31, of Ossipee, was found guilty May 1 of multiple charges, including possession of fentanyl and aggravated DUI. Nason was indicted in 2017 on manslaughter and negligent homicide charges related to a September 2016 collision that killed Janet Baumann, 61, of Ossipee and badly injured her husband, Gary. Nason reportedly crossed the center line of Route 16 and hit their vehicle head-on. After his conviction, County Attorney Michaela Andruzzi said, “While this office is concerned with ensuring that individuals with substance abuse issues get the help they need, we will not stand for people who are wreaking havoc in our community by killing and injuring others.” According to a letter from Jason’s father, Timothy Nason of Tamworth, every state trooper witness that was put up on the stand testified that Jason showed no sign of impairment. He also said his son suffered burns from trying to aid the victims. Jason now faces up to 27 years in prison and is due for sentencing in June.
This week’s Tele-Talk: Do you think the sentence Jason Nason faces is fair?
