To the editor:I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the 13th Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk that was held here in North Conway on Oct. 16. The weather was not on our side, but the event was held rain or shine, and over 300 walkers braved the cold and wet.The amount they raised was over $56,000, with more still coming in. We had 31 teams and 57 individual walkers. The top team, Bartenders for Boobs, raised over $11,000 and our top individual, Kevin Reardon, raised $637.We would like to thank our sponsors, American Fence Co., ARI Inc., Northway Bank, The Memorial Hospital and Valley Originals (Independent Restaurants of MWV). A special thank you to Dot Seybold of OVP/Settlers Green for hosting the event and helping in so many ways. Many thanks to Staples who created our beautiful programs and allowed us to share their parking lot. Many local businesses donated food, gifts, raffle items, time and supplies. There are too many to list here, but many thanks for everything. Along with the committee that works for months to organize this event, we also had 25 other volunteers helping on the day of the event, RSVP and SOLO students, along with friends and family. Thank you, thank you! A special thanks to the committee members who work so hard for so many months to organize this special event. They did an awesome job! If anyone is interested in joining our committee to help fight breast cancer, we are always looking for more volunteers. Please contact me for more information, at (207) 215-7101, or call the American Cancer Society at (800) 640-7101. Please plan on joining us next year on Oct. 15, 2006!
