To the editor:

These are tumultuous times for non-profits. Except for the huge national enterprises, most non-profit organizations exist on tiny margins, with the tap of simple philanthropy filling their collective buckets. Carroll County has 422 registered non-profits, all of whom rely on us for support of their charitable missions, and there are almost 5,000 in New Hampshire. Most have modest budgets and salaries, choosing to put limited resources into mission and service.
