I was recently criticized in the Sun by Elizabeth Kelsea for “picking at America’s scabbed over wounds,” especially for past misbehaviors like slavery and women’s rights. She obviously missed the point of my letter: it was a celebration of America as it is now.
I am proud to be an independent voter. Both parties have their pros and cons. Susan made some very good points. To G Allen I say there are other Republicans in the race. Republicans who dislike Biden should think about supporting another Republican candidate and not assume it has to be Trump. Trump will be more dangerous this time around. He will further divide this country beyond repair. Any policies of his that you liked can be accomplished by another Republican candidate without the chaos, cheating and endless lies. I also have friends in other countries who are totally disgusted by Trump and why so many could possibly support him.
I pray that the voters in this country will come to their senses before it is too late. The only reason our Democracy survived January 6th is because there were many Republicans who stood up to him and did the right thing. This will not happen the next time because Trump will surround himself with only those faithful to him, not to our country. Please wake up America before it is too late!
I am a Republican and will support Donald Trump if he is the nominee.
When looking at Trump's record and rhetoric, it cannot be viewed in a vacuum. The contest always comes down to choices and the analysis can be complicated. Sure, Trump has many flaws. But in my view, Biden has far more.
His foreign policy has been a complete disaster. Compare this to Trump's, with no wars on his watch. While it is a positive that NATO is expanding and more united, it is because Europeans are afraid of Russia, and this is Biden's fault because of his weak leadership.
On the domestic front, Biden has greatly increased our deficit and debt even though Covid was on the way out. This is because Democrats spend taxpayer money to buy votes. Republicans aren't perfect on this issue, but far better than Dems.
Biden's personal character, while often endearing, hides the fact that he betrayed the country by accepting foreign monies in an influence-peddling and bribery scheme. The Dems keep claiming "their is no evidence" which is patently false.
Biden's decision to open the Southern border and invite everyone in illegally is a travesty.
Even if you believe that Trump acted wrongly on January 6th, our system survived. Trump will be too old to continue serving even if he wanted to, and then someone else will be in charge. Would you prefer it to be Kamala Harris?
Yes, because Kamala Harris is not a traitor. It’s pretty simple, unless you complicate it with self centered talking points forgetting that Trump initiated Covid payments and increased the debt by giving folks like me a big tax break. While I appreciate the 100k+ of tax returns, I am cognizant enough to realize the tax cuts are not sustainable and I still won’t vote for the man who doled it out because he is a disaster of epic proportions in human form. Evidence just came out about the complete disregard for the emoluments clause by who? Donald J. Trump. You would be better off waving Haley’s flag than a Trump traitor flag and manage to maintain an ounce of integrity.
