To the editor:

Trans Granite Staters will soon be subject to the scrutiny and surveillance of three anti-LGBTQ+ bills. On Friday, July 19, Gov. Chris Sununu became the first governor in modern New Hampshire history to attack LGBTQ+ Granite Staters when he signed three bills into law. These three bills target our LGBTQ+ community, but specifically trans youth.

Biological males competing in “women sports”*

I can’t wait for this election to be over. Both sides say the most ridiculous things. Robin, these three bills in no way hamper lgbtq community. The first one you mention prohibits biological males from competing in sports. Second, requires parent notification and last is about age appropriate gender change. If anything, these bills help the well being of humanity that includes lgbtq.

Allow men who identify as women or boys who identify as girls compete against other females is completely wrong. Even before they go through puberty, most boys are stronger and more athletic than girls. By allowing biological males into female sports, women and girls are not competing on an even playing field and it discourages female athletes from participating or excelling when the competition is effectively rigged.

There is no question that being trans is a burden, but at the same time, it is unfair to have this impact others against their will.

There is no issue with having trans women compete in male sports. Over the years, some girls have played in boys sports and the best of them have done well. I believe Caitlin Clark is a good example. She always played on boys' basketball teams and was still the best player, and I'm sure the higher level of competition made her better as well.

I find it so interesting that trans people who believe they are discriminated against are willing to do the same to women and girls. Maybe it makes them feel more powerful that they can legally abuse another group, even though it is obviously unfair to anyone who looks at this issue honestly.

Hey G, finally something we agree on! :) While I support equality and inclusion for all people, I don't believe people born with male physiology should be allowed to compete with people born with female physiology, as there are too many advantages that cannot be changed even with a full transition.
