When two Boeing 737 Max airplanes crashed due to numerous design failures and lack of proper training, the American people demanded accountability.

In October 2019, in a Senate hearing investigating the two crashes that killed 346 people, Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) asked Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg, why the manufacturer did not disclose more details about the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System’s lack of safeguards. “You have told me half-truths over and over again,” she told him. “You have not told us the whole truth, and these families are suffering because of it.”
