To the editor:

HB 155 is the latest proof. The Republican majority’s plan would cut the business enterprise tax from 0.55 percent to 0.50 percent (House) or exempt more firms by raising the BET filing threshold from $250,000 to $375,000 (Senate). The Legislative Budget Assistant estimates the House cut would reduce state revenue by about $19.7-$22.3 million in the first two years; the Senate change would still cost up to $2.5 million a year. Those are real dollars stripped from state coffers.
