To the editor:

I just saw the news about the White Mountain Hotel and Resort’s plans for a major expansion that would include 40 new rooms and a ballroom.

Do we really need “urban” expansion on this quiet side of the valley?

This will surely detract from the views from Cathedral and White Horse Ledges, add to traffic entering onto West Side Road and impact Echo Lake.

What is the septic plan, and will that also affect the Saco River?

There are a few of us with property downstream that may be concerned. I hope that the right eyes are on this project, such as the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.

Being in close proximity to this proposed development, I was surprised to not have heard anything prior to this news release.
