To the editor:We, the Bartlett Firefighters Association, want to extend our appreciation to the people who attended our bean supper and silent auction on Jan. 14. The event was a success with more than 70 people attending. We also thank the merchants and individuals who supplied food for the supper and items for the auction. Food came from Grants, Patchs Market and Hannaford. The cake was a hit. Attitash, Caf Noche, Maestros Caf and Deli, Marios, Hartmanns Train Museum, Ken Crowther, Bill Lewando, Joe Jones Mountain Outfitters, Ragged Mountain Equipment, North Country Fair Jewelers, Shannon Door Pub, Stonehurst Manor, The Red Parka Pub, and The Up Country Restaurant donated gift certificates or merchandise. We thank all of you for your generosity. The bean supper was planned, prepared and served by the Ladies Auxiliary, and they deserve a round of applause. Maxine Othot, Tracey Bennett, Laura Villaume, Jane Labbe, Joy Rose, Ruth Hill-Chick, Beri Hiscox, Sandy Smith and Rose Roberts all participated in making the evening a success. I heard a lot of good comments on the food with several people asking if we would be doing it again. We are working with Fire Chief Roberts to determine how we can best augment the fire department budget. Purchases to date include material for photo ID cards for the fire department, longevity awards for members with more than 25 years of service, and food for extended fire and training scenes. We are working with Chief Roberts and other fire department officers in selecting a gas detector that will supplement existing equipment. We plan to make that purchase as soon as possible. The Bartlett Firefighters Association is a non-profit organization with the mission of providing support to the Bartlett Fire Department and other emergency services.
