Sometimes it's the people who seem the most determined to do good who do the most damage. That thought kept recurring to me as I watched a Daily Sun video about the affordable housing "crisis" in Carroll County — and especially in Conway, where the hype echoes loudest.
New Hampshire ostensibly has the eighth-worst situation nationally, according to one article on the subject. If true, that's probably a direct result of this state's heavy dependence on tourism. As blue-state residents flee crime and taxes, those who can afford to will migrate to more pleasant climes, which is what the Granite State advertises. Those wealthy enough to spend most of their time at play drift straight toward the White Mountains, driving real-estate prices skyward as they outbid locals for a piece of paradise.
