CONCORD — A cyanobacteria bloom has been observed on Province Lake  in Effingham and Wakefield. Samples collected on Wednesday and Thursday (July 24-25) exceeded the state threshold of 70,000 cells/ml of cyanobacteria. Samples contained the cyanobacteria taxon, anabaena/dolichospermum.

Sample identification was first confirmed by the University of New Hampshire and duplicate samples were collected and analyzed by the state Department of Environmental Services.
