JACKSON — Twelve teams from across New England began carving ice sculptures in the Black Mountain parking lot Friday at noon, and are expected to continue through noon Sunday, Jan. 28, as part of the 17th New Hampshire Sanctioned and Jackson Invitational Snow Sculpting Competition.

“They started their work and are going at it right through Sunday,” said Kathleen Driscoll, Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce executive director. The event is presented by the chamber in conjunction with sponsors Black Mountain and Nordic Village Resort.
