Would be good to get the DOT mobilized on this. The rail landscape is changing and rail freight is starting to make more sense in New England with CSX in town. A trail alongside the tracks could certainly be nice as well, where it fits.

Every rail road resource says an active railroad ( which can also include space for recreation) is by far the biggest boost to a local economy. Yes a bigger and more expensive option but also brings in a lot more to the local economy.

As for trails I am told by those in that business. there are so many rail trails available hikers will not be rushing to Ossipee.

Residents of Ossipee need to see some hard info to back up promises of hiking trails having the best impact on our economy.
