EATON — The “Save the View” sign that was installed at the Eaton town beach at Crystal Lake was taken by vandals, and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is investing.

The sign was sponsored by the Eaton Village Preservation Society, which has launched a campaign to raise $500,000 to purchase 116 acres on Lyman Mountain and prevent a proposed timber harvest they say would alter one of New England’s most recognizable viewscapes and create more runoff into the lake.
