BARTLETT — It was a bittersweet night at the Bartlett School Board meeting June 19, as three longtime district employees, including principal Joe Voci, who will retire at the end of this month, were recognized for their commitment to education. They were presented plaques and received a standing ovation.

Title I teacher Gloria Brennan, who started as an aide at Josiah Bartlett Elementary School in the 2000-2001 school year and worked within SAU 9 for 18 years, including the past nine as a teacher at JBES; Lucy Swain, who has taught third and fourth grade at JBES for 29 years; and Voci, who has served as principal for the past 23 years, were recognized at the beginning of the school’s board’s monthly June meeting.
