CONWAY — Members of the Conway Conservation Commission at their monthly meeting at the Whitaker Homesite in North Conway Wednesday night were generally supportive of conceptual plans for Phase II of the North Conway Recreation Path that will pass through town-owned Whitaker Woods but were concerned that it be made to be as aesthetically pleasing as possible.
“I think that’s key,” said conservation commission chair Nat Lucy, an avid cross country skier and mountain biker who has spearheaded efforts to maintain and enhance recreational opportunities in the town-owned property that was acquired in 1971 from the late Charles W. “Chubby” Whitaker with assistance from the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation.
