WOLFEBORO — An Ossipee woman is facing charges connected with an incident in which Huggins Hospital staff were allegedly assaulted.

A judge recently ordered her to have a competency evaluation.

According to Wolfeboro PD, on Sept. 25, Wolfeoboro Police Staff Sgt. Guy Maloney responded to the Huggins Hospital emergency room for a reported assault.

Upon investigation, Maloney identified the suspect as Amanda Diaz, 40, of Ossipee. It’s alleged that Diaz assaulted two emergency room nurses and damaged a piece of medical equipment before fleeing.

Diaz was located a few hours later on South Main Street in Wolfeboro and was taken into custody.

She was transported to the Carroll County Jail and arraigned the next day in Carroll County Superior Court on charges related to the incident at the hospital.

Those charges include one count of criminal mischief (felony) and two counts of simple assault.

She was released on personal recognizance.

According to a Carroll County Superior Court document, Judge Amy Ignatius on Oct. 2 ordered a competency evaluation.

Diaz is scheduled for a competency hearing on Jan. 8, 2020, at 10 a.m.
