BAJA CALIFORNIA, Mexico — Team 603 finished the first day of racing in the Mexican 1000 on Sunday in good shape, placing 97th overall with a time of 3:31:07, an hour and four minutes off the leader in the 1,300-mile, six-day, off-road rally race.

Their finish positioned them in the middle of the pack for Monday’s starts at a little after 10 a.m., Pacific Daylight Time. Monday’s racing was not completed by press time.
