MADISON — Timing is everything, but it turns out time was not on the Madison School Board’s side when it comes to filling a newly open seat on the board during the 10-day filing period, which closes Friday at 5 p.m.

Eleven months into a three-year term, Susan (Hirtle) Martin submitted her letter of resignation, effective immediately, from the school board. Board chair Jim Curran called for a special meeting on Wednesday night. He and fellow board members Jeremy Cox, Sarah DeMartino and Ed Robinson met for four minutes and voted to unanimously accept the resignation.
