CONWAY — Attorney Leslie M. Leonard of Cooper, Cargill Chant of North Conway will be given the second annual Bruni Young Leadership Award at the 28th annual meeting of the Mt. Washington Valley Economic Council, to be held Nov. 15 at the Red Jacket Mountain View in North Conway.

The Bruni award is awarded to a professional age 45 and under who exemplifies past MWVEC board member John Bruni’s involvement in community affairs.

As part of the evening’s festivities, in addition to the Bruni award, the 2018 Bob Morrell Award for civic community spirit will be given to Jen’s Friends, the local cancer fighting organization now in its 20th year.

MWVEC Board Member of the Year and MWVEC Volunteer of the Year also will be announced.

“Leslie has made quite a mark in her years in the valley,” said Jac Cuddy, executive director of the MWVEC, noting that Leonard joined Cooper Cargill Chant in 2010, being named a partner earlier this year. She has become involved with several local organizations.

She currently serves as president of the North Conway Rotary Club and as president of the Carroll County Bar Association. She is a member of the Gibson Center Board of Directors and an ex officio member of the White Mountain Community Health Center board. She is a member of the New Hampshire Association for Justice and the Human Resources Association of Greater Concord.

Leonard is a past president of the Mount Washington Valley Children’s Museum board of directors and a past board member of the Ham Ice Arena. She was recognized as a “Rising Star” in 2015 and 2016 by Super Lawyers New England Magazine. Leslie was a member of Leadership Mount Washington Valley, Class of 2012.

A cocktail reception begins for the annual MWVEC dinner meeting at 5 p.m. The business meeting is at 5:45 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m., followed by the awards. Reservation deadline is Nov. 12. Tickets are $50. Call the MWVEC at (603) 447-6622 or email Susie Hall-Kennett at susie@mwvec.com to reserve.
