CONWAY — The man accused of driving drunk and crashing a truck into the Conway Public Library, killing his passenger, pleaded guilty to manslaughter Monday and was sentenced to 9½-20 years by Judge Mark Attorri Monday in Carroll County Superior Court.

Harold Hill Jr., 33, was charged with manslaughter, negligent homicide and aggravated driving while intoxicated with serious injury in connection with the March 31, 2022, crash into the library, which is still damaged. Brooke Barron, 21, of Conway, a local gymnastics coach, died as a result of the crash.

having also lost a daughter, I can understand the extreme pain the Barrons are going through. I recall Brooke as a beautiful little girl, about 15 years ago. My great grand daughter was a gymnastics student and was inconsolable when she learned of the tragedy. Every time I drive by the broken library pillars I think about the loss of Brooke to our community.
