CONWAY — The Conway School Board budget committee got its first look at the proposed 2025-26 operating budget last Thursday. E, and excluding warrant articles, it will be increasing $2.4 million (6.35 percent), which left at least one member “aghast.”

Chief among the anticipated increases is a $1,326,612 (20.97 percent) increase in special education costs, along with an 8.5 percent increase in health insurance and a rise in salaries totaling $566,722 per the second year of a three-year negotiated contract with the Conway Education Association (the teachers union).
