BARTLETT — Deputy Speaker Gene Chandler (R-Bartlett) is Shawn Jasper’s choice to succeed him as Speaker of the House after the 12-term representative from Nashua accepted Gov. Chris Sununu’s recommendation to become the next Commissioner of Agriculture on Thursday.

Chandler said he’s willing to accept the position but said he would not run for the speakership in 2018.
