CONWAY — While all eyes will be on the North Country on Monday for the total eclipse of the sun, later in the week, we will also be celebrating the 90th anniversary of the World Record Wind of 231 miles per hour, set on the summit of storm-crossed Mount “Home of the World’s Worst Weather” Washington on April 12, 1934.

The Mount Washington Observatory is marking the milestone anniversary with a series of events that get underway next Thursday, April 11, with an open house at the Obs’ Gladys Brooks Library in North Conway from 1-4 p.m. with Big Wind Day archival materials presented by curator Dr. Peter Crane.
