OSSIPEE — Witnesses who stated they saw a brown horse stuck in the mud in a field last September were the genesis of the animal cruelty case against former planning board member Roy Barron that was recently moved from District to Superior Court.

On Monday, Barron waived arraignment and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
