Police Cpl. Aimee Parent will lead a Rape Aggression Defense Systems course at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Conway Police Station on East Conway Road. The free course, which is the first of its kind to be held in the valley, will show women of all ages certain ways to defend themselves in the event of an attack. We want to make this available to the community and to students at the school, said Conway Police Lt. Chris Perley. Young women ages 15 to 25 are among the most prevalent victims.Parent, the course instructor, will be conducting the program with a female dispatcher from the Carroll County Sheriffs Office. Perley said the Rape Aggression Defense Systems course is the only self-defense program recognized by the National Association of Chiefs of Police. The department asks that women interested in the free course register in advance by calling the department at (603) 356-5717.
