Anyone who read "The Great Gatsby" in high school English class or who saw either the 1974 or 2013 film versions will likely remember the recurring symbolism of the distant green light that glowed at night on the dock far across the bay. The word, elusive, has long been associated with this dreamy image and in both the story, and perhaps in life, the light remains just out of reach.
