I’m not sure if it’s a sign of aging or just being cantankerous, but I seem to have a hard time accepting change. It took me forever to accept word processing over my electric typewriter, pumping my own gas was a “trial” and I still own a Tracphone that flips open! Actually, I’m not really convinced I need that phone. It weighs down my purse, the battery is always low when I do need it, and since I seldom check it for messages, it’s usually two days later before I realize someone was trying to call me. To be honest, my friends finally gave up. They call my husband’s cell now.

Hard to believe, but it’s now December and Christmas is only three weeks away. We’ll be celebrating St. Nicholas Day here at the center on Wednesday, and Jill has a bus full of elves heading to Portland on Friday for the “Magic of Christmas” show. We will be holding our annual Christmas luncheons on Dec. 12, 13 and 14. Rick has a fabulous menu planned, including Durgin Park pork loin with apple brandy demiglace, herb roasted potatoes and creamed onions. Not to be undone, David will prepare his famous gingerbread with whipped cream for dessert. These luncheons are generously sponsored by White Mountain Oil and Propane and the Saunders Family. On Monday, Dec. 18, we will hold our annual gift exchange, and if we’re all on our best behavior, we might have a visit from Santa as well. All are welcome to these events, and no reservations are required. First come, first served, with a $4 donation. Hope you can join us!
