Goodbye, Chris! Come to the Freedom Public Library on Friday, Aug. 30, from noon to 5 p.m. for an open house to celebrate and say good luck in your new job to our assistant librarian Chris Libby. Chris will begin a new job at the Scarborough Public Library in September. Come by the library to wish him well and have some refreshments.

Kennett Gold Cards are now available. Proceeds benefit Kennett football. The cards include multi-use discounts at places such as Flatbreads, Starbucks, Ben & Jerry’s, Elvio’s, Taco Bell, Jalisco’s, The Met, Almost There Tavern, McDonalds, Burger King, Sea Dog Brewing Co., Margarita Grill, McGrath’s Tavern, Buffalo Wild Wings, Wicked Fresh, Tuckerman’s, Shalimar, Black Cap, Applebee’s, Beef and Ski, Twombly’s, Dairy Queen, Horsefeathers, Barley and Salt and Friendly’s. There will be a free introduction to Modern Western Square Dance on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Tin Mountain Conservation Center at 1245 Bald Hill Road in Albany. This week is free for new students. Dress is casual. Mainstream graduates are invited to support the new students and expand their own dancing skills. Thanks to the Friends of the Library, the Freedom Public Library has passes that provide free or reduced admission to several area attractions.

Call the library at (603) 539-5176 to come by to reserve the pass you want for the day you want it. Passes do not need to be returned to the library.

The Castle in the Clouds pass is good for free admission for one adult (ages 18 and up) and one youth (ages 5 to 17) and a 50 percent admission discount for one adult and one youth. Not valid for special events.

The Libby Museum of Natural History pass is good for one family for one day.

The WMV Children’s Museum pass is good for up to four people. Not available on rainy days in August.

The Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm pass is good for free admission for two adults and up to four related children (17 and under). Not valid for signature or special events.

The Squam Lakes Natural Science Center pass is good for two admissions for $5 each and up to four additional discounted admissions at $10 each.
