Registration is now open for the first annual Tick Tri, a sprint triathlon for fitness, fun and Lyme Disease awareness. The race takes place on Sunday, Aug. 24 at 7 a.m. at the Sandwich Town Beach in Sandwich,. Participants will enjoy a 1/4 mile swim (with options to swim less), a 15 mile scenic bike ride and a 3 mile walk/run. All levels and abilities, including newbies and children, are welcome as the race can be modified. Post race refreshments and edible prizes will be served. The Tick Tri is sponsored and run by Holland Hill Studio for Yoga and Fitness in Moultonboro, a community fitness center that runs six races and fundraisers a year. Information about Lyme Disease and other tick-borne illnesses will be available. A portion of the proceeds go to ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society). Participants who have or know a loved one with a tick-borne illness are encouraged to wear something green on race day.
