It's hard to believe that Memorial Day weekend is finally upon us! It finally feels like summer, with lilacs and apple trees in full bloom. I have already been swimming in Lake Chocorua, and I hope the water soaks up some of the heat. It was very chilly!
Although Memorial Day is often associated with opening up camps and putting boats in the water, it has, of course a more serious aspect. On Monday, May 30, at noon at the Veterans' Memorial, the flag will be raised and Taps will be played in a short ceremony organized by the Veterans' Memorial Committee. Everyone is invited to come along and honor our veterans.
The Tamworth Farmers' Market is a delight. Every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., farmers, bakers, cheese makers, artists, crafters and representatives of non-profits set up tables in front of the UUFES Meeting House at the Four Corners in Tamworth Village. To make parking safe for motorists and pedestrians, parking areas have been designated. The Market Committee seeks volunteers to help park cars and sign up for two-hour shifts. This is light work, but requires a sense of humor and some physical stamina. Please contact Bob Streeter at (603) 323-2392 if you would like to know more.
