During Christmas and February vacation weeks, Great Glen Trails will be hosting cross country ski camps for kids called penguins and polar bears. Both camps focus on games and fun, while teaching cross country ski basics. The first session is just around the corner.New this season: Two-day and single-day options.Penguins Ages 6-8Let's play some games. Being a penguin is all about playing in the snow. What else do penguins love to do? Ski, of course. Slide around just like a penguin and learn all a penguin's favorite ski games: capture the flag, one ski ball pass, freeze tag and more. Learn how to maneuver, glide, duck and dive just like a penguin.Polly the Penguin says: "Yippedee-skippidee I love to ski."Polar Bears Ages 9-11Time for some serious fun. Polar bears are fun, fast and great on skis. They're super skiers. To be a super skier just like a polar bear, you need to explore all of Great Glen Trails. Find hidden treasures on scavenger hunts, learn to ski scooter and try out the ski limbo. In no time, you'll be skiing like a polar bear.Percy the Polar Bear says: "I'm looking for the best skiers to join my Super Polar Bear Skier Squad."Both Penguins and Polar Bears are led by the Great Glen Trails Ski School staff and the camp director is Great Glen Trails Ski School Director and Olympian Sue Wemyss. Sue has taught and coached cross country skiing for more than 20 years to students of all ages. For many winters now, she has worked with kids at Great Glen Trails ensuring they have fun on snow while learning how to improve their skiing.Session one is Dec. 29-31 and session two is Feb. 16-18.
