Jon Alton Lufkin

Olympian Jack Lufkin of Glen, N.H., passed away peacefully in the arms of his adoring wife Karen on Saturday morning, Sept. 28, 2024, just four days after their 13th wedding anniversary.

Born in Rumford, Maine, in July 1947 to Artiss (Stiles) Lufkin and Frederick Lufkin, Jack was a natural born athlete who excelled at running, setting records for his Rumford school track teams. Jack started cross-country skiing in 1962 as a freshman at Stephens High in Rumford. His coaches were Chummy Broomhall, Herb Adams, and Mack Miller. Within two years, he was consistently a top scorer on a ski team that was among the best in the state and New England competition.
