John Edward Courtney, 77, of Conway, N.H., passed suddenly on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.

He was the son of John Courtney and Marion Moran of New York. John was born Feb. 22, 1942, in Queens and grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. He became a union iron worker in 1962 and continued for 40 years, retiring in 2002 from Local 7 Boston. After he retired, he became active in his community, including being a crossing guard in Malden, Mass.
