Come join storyteller, musician and author Michael Caduto for an exciting hour of campfire stories and games in the Native American tradition at the Madison Library on Monday, August 8 at 2 p.m. Chant to stories, sing along to the music and move together in a round dance. Have fun playing a variety of Native American games including hoops, rings, rabbit sticks and races. Recommended for families and children five and over, this participatory program engages the audience in the Great Circle of Life through Native American stories and games, including the traditions of the Abenaki peoples of New Hampshire.Michael J. Caduto is an artist on the N.H. State Council on the Arts roster. He travels throughout North America presenting environmental and cultural performances and workshops for children, teachers, naturalists and the general public, including many summer camps. His most recent books include "A Time Before New Hampshire: The Story of a Land and Native Peoples" and "In the Beginning: The Story of Genesis."The Friends of Madison Library are sponsoring this Campfire Stories and Native American Games program, supported in part by a grant from the N.H. State Council on the Arts and the N.H. State Library and donations from the Saul O. Sidore Memorial Foundation in memory of Rebecca Lee Spitz.
