CONWAY — The development of American popular music is the topic of a “listening party” at the Majestic Theater in Conway Village at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 5.

Mountain Top Music’s June First Friday concert features a sample of this summer’s Topics in Music History series. Presenter John Howell, a former Southern radio DJ and currently consultant to the Delta Blues Museum in Mississippi, will preview the first event of the series, which explores the origins of American genres: country, folk, blues, bluegrass, rhythm and blues, ragtime, honky tonk, swing, gospel, indie rock and more.
