The Currier Doll Museum, located at 104 Lovell Road in Fryeburg, Maine, is now open on Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Groups will be accommodated at other times by reservation. The museum's new website is up and running and can be viewed at www.currierdollmuseum.org. The Currier Doll Museum is a unique collaboration between a private donor, the Fryeburg Historical Society and the Town of Fryeburg. Ninety-one year old Hazel Currier began collecting dolls in 1970. By the autumn of 2015, her collection exceeded 10,000 dolls and they needed a new home. She approached the historical society about donating the dolls. The collection was accepted with condition that a museum would be established. The museum and collection now reside in the historic Fryeburg Town House built in 1847.
A visit to the Currier Doll Museum, with antique furniture and vintage dresses on loan from the historical society, is a unique experience. Volunteers are needed to help staff the museum on the two open days and there are always two people on duty so you never have to man the museum alone. For reservations or to volunteer email: whitaker9244@roadrunner.com.
