Flossie M. Gile, 100, formerly of Jackson died April 6, 2005, at the Belknap County Nursing Home in Laconia. Born in Conway, the daughter of Moses and Gertrude (Cole) Gile, she lived in Jackson for over 60 years before moving to Laconia in 1996.Mrs. Gile graduated in the first graduating class at Kennett High School in 1924 and graduated from Plymouth Normal School in Plymouth in 1927. She had been an Elementary school teacher in the Mount Washington Valley from 1927 to 1944. She had also worked at various inns in the valley and was head housekeeper at the Memorial Hospital for 13 years.Flossie was the Jackson Town Clerk for 25 years, retiring at the age of 82. She had been a member of the former Washington Chapter 44 O.E.S., a member of the Jackson Sewing Club for 75 years, a member of the Jackson Historical Society, and a former deacon at the Jackson Community Church.The family includes her son, Edwin A. Gile of Laconia; four grandchildren, Peter A. Gile of Reading, Mass., Michael K. Gile of Dover, Matthew H. Gile and Jean-Marie Day, both of North Conway; and six great-grandchildren.Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Jackson Community Church in Jackson with the Rev. Pojen Lee, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway.
