This morning the skies cleared, the clouds lifting to reveal the very snowy summits of Mount Washington and the Northern Presidentials. The autumn leaves are mostly off the trees, but here and there splashes of fall colors remain, their bright yellows a nice complement to the white mountaintops.

The foliage season in New Hampshire, and the White Mountains and Grand North in particular, was a great success. We have something unique up here in the North Country. Our covered bridges, mountains and hills, rivers and streams, provide beautiful backdrops for the fall foliage. Despite the economic challenges that continue to plague the country and many parts of the world, visitors from all over the globe still came to see the blazing glory of the turning of the leaves.
